Tavia Doan, OD, is a board-certified therapeutic optometrist. She grew up in Arlington where she attended the University of Texas at Arlington, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She has been interested in optometry ever since she joined an optometry club during her undergraduate studies by shadowing and volunteering at optometrist offices. To continue her pursuit in eye care, she began by working as a receptionist at an optometrist office, then moved on to technician work with the eventual hope of becoming an eye care practitioner to provide eye care to underserved communities.
Dr. Doan received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Inter-American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry. She completed multiple internships in Puerto Rico and externships in the states which focused on full-scope management of ocular health including eye infection, ocular trauma, pre and post operative LASIK/cataract surgery, specialty contact lenses, and low vision. Working at the various clinical sites allowed her to hone her skills in her special areas of interest including contact lenses, refractive surgery, as well as diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.
She loves people and always has a smile on her face! She likes to give detailed explanations to her patients which will aid them in making the right decisions in treating their visual problems.
During her free time, Dr. Doan enjoys doing outdoor activities, including hiking, skiing, tennis, and biking. She also loves to spend time with her family and friends.
